Learn to speak Greek and develop mainly your speaking, reading and listening skills in this Absolute Beginners Greek Language Online Course – communicative classes which emphasise the practical use of the language.
What is the Greek Language Online Beginners course about?
This course is to enable you to learn basic Greek including the Greek alphabet, but also to discover some of the cultural aspects of Greece.
BONUS: As one of ChriSOULa’s Greek language course participants, you’ll be invited to future Greek Social Gatherings Online and interactive presentations about Greek destinations and Greek food.
This is a live online course. You will need:
- Internet connection.
- A computer with microphone and camera is best (e.g. a PC/laptop/iMac/MacBook), or a tablet/iPad/smart phone/iPhone if you don’t have a computer.
We will contact you with joining instructions before your course starts.
What will we cover?
You will learn the Greek alphabet, vocabulary and basic Greek structures covering: introducing oneself, personal information, shopping incl. numbers, simple directions, ordering drinks and snacks.
What will I achieve?
By the end of this course you should be able to…
- introduce oneself
- ask for and give basic personal information
- talk simply about your routine
- understand prices and simple signs in a shop
- buy items
- order food in a restaurant
- read simple Greek.
What level is the course and do I need any particular skills?
Absolute Beginners / Beginners level. Come along with willingness and enthusiasm to learn!
How will I be taught, and will there be any work outside the class?
The course is based on the communicative approach:
- active students’ interaction
- emphasis on speaking and listening skills
- pair and group work
- role plays
- use of realia, pictures and authentic material
- use of audio-visual techniques when appropriate
Please note, students are expected to participate in oral classroom activities and to do some homework as and when required.
BONUS: In case of absence, the recording of the lesson will be emailed out to you to help you catch up.

What if I would like to join the class after it has already started?
The teacher will assess if you could be offered private 1-1 intensive sessions and will aim to cover with you what has already been taught in class.
